The prisoner review Lillith had gone through with the tech team did not please her. This place had too many prisoners and, more importantly, far too much personnel.

Truth be told, she paid little attention to the prisoner overview, they had them well organized. The worse crimes, the deeper in the prison. Easy. She used most of the time to estimate the amount people needed to maintain this prison. High thousands, at the very least.

Far too many. “I’ve heard enough,” she said. “Where is the head warden’s office? We need to trade words.”

“Sixth floor above the ground,” one of the technicians said. “Office at the far end.”

“I can take you to the floor,” another one said.

Excellent. I motioned toward the door and he led the way. His access card opened all doors we met, and we were soon walking up the stairs. “Have you been working here for long?” Lillith asked conversationally.

“Fifteen years,” he said, “ever since I finished university.”

What a waste. “You have Served the Lord well.” The words made his eyes glisten, and Lillith faintly smiled.

He led her up to the sixth floor, opened the door, and motioned forward. “My apologies, but I cannot risk being seen with you.”

“I understand. May the Lord bless your path.” Lillith walked through the door and wreathed herself with the disguise spell. Everyone on the floor greeted her with the customary nod, and she strolled all the way to the head warden’s office.

Lillith glanced at the plaque, reading: ‘Kushiel, Head Warden.’

How many angels were bogged down here? Even one was too many. She pressed the handle of the heavy, wooden door. Unlocked.

With a broad smile, Lillith walked into the office, seeing it empty. She closed the door behind herself, the smile fading. Gold-embroidered curtains? Mahogany table? Two thirty-two-inch monitors?

Disgusting. Angels were supposed to lead by example, especially in virtues, one of which was modesty. She walked by his table, seeing the PC wasn’t even locked.

Lillith sat down on Kushiel’s business armchair, smirked, and looked for the broadcast application. She found it on the desktop. After a bit of rummaging, she found a high-end microphone in a drawer, which she placed on the table, plugged into the PC, and moved the microphone toward her face.

Broadcast to all speakers, set. Maximum volume, set. Lillith cleared her throat, and pressed play. “For centuries, this place has served as a prison. And for what? To provide free housing for the wicked. Why is that? Because your leaders lost the spine to lead, and to bring judgment.

“Instead of getting their Gucci suits dirty while punishing the sinners, as they were tasked by God to do, they waste your lives serving the wicked. But that will end soon. No longer will good men waste their entire lives maintaining a system created only to make their leaders comfortable.

“For the wicked, tremble, cower, and run. Your judgment has come.

“And for you, people of God, the chains that bind you to this place shall soon be broken. I am Lillith, the Archangel of Light, and I will set you free.
